How It All Began

​

The story begins with a simple invitation — a friend asked Edwin and April to help support her nonprofit. Because helping others has always been on their hearts, they agreed without hesitation. As they served, they were encouraged to start nonprofits of their own and look for gaps in the community where help was truly needed. Edwin and April were excited, full of vision, and ready to make a difference. They were even told how funding would come, so they began brainstorming. But Yah had a much bigger plan unfolding.

A Calling Born From Heartbreak

While helping the other nonprofit, April began hearing stories that broke her heart — young people becoming homeless simply because they had “aged out” of the system. Children who once had a place to call home were suddenly pushed out because they turned 18 and foster families would no longer receive support. Some youth left traumatic situations with nothing, but what they could grab and carry in a garbage bag.

 

It didn’t feel right.

It didn’t feel just.

And it didn’t align with the Word.

James 1:27 says: “Clean and undefiled religion before the Elohim and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction…” This verse has always been one of Edwin’s favorites — and it became the foundation of our mission.

​

April began researching, digging deeper, and the more she learned, the clearer the calling became: Their nonprofit would focus on orphans, foster youth, and widows — those Yah specifically commands us to care for.

​

A Season of Pause — and Preparation

During this time, life was full. April was helping two nonprofits, homeschooling, pregnant with their seventh baby, and caring for her grandmother. Everything had to pause.

 

But Yah was still moving.

​

Because April had already created social media pages for the organization, they connected with someone serving orphans and widows in Uganda. Their needs were great, and they began donating whenever they could. Even in the pause, Yah kept showing them that this mission was needed — locally and globally.

In 2021, P.O.W. received its EIN number. And then… Yah asked us to wait.

​

Yah’s Perfect Timing

Five years later, the vision has been revived. The calling is stronger than ever. And the timing is perfect. In Scripture, five represents Yah’s grace, goodness, and favor toward humanity.

​

Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us: “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

And Habakkuk 2:3 says: “For still the vision awaits its appointed time… If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”

​

Yah knew the right moment for P.O.W. to shine. And that moment is now.

​

Community, Calling, and Yah’s Provision

None of this would be possible without Yah’s hand guiding every step. Edwin and April can only do this because Yah is making it possible, opening doors they could never open themselves and aligning every piece in His perfect timing.

​

They are also here because of the incredible support received through the TikTok community that has already begun forming. People have shown love, encouragement, generosity, and belief in this mission long before the organization was fully active. Their support has been a confirmation that Yah is moving and that this work is needed.

​

Because of Yah’s provision, P.O.W. already has amazing board members who share the heart and vision of the mission. Edwin and April are honored to walk this journey with them and look forward to continuing to grow the team as Yah expands the work.

​

This is not just their story — it is a story of community, obedience, and divine timing. They are simply vessels, grateful to be used for His purpose.

​

Our Heart Today

Widows are not always elderly — sometimes loved ones leave too early, and the weight of grief and responsibility becomes overwhelming. Orphans and foster youth often face life with no support, no guidance, and no stability.

​

We are here to show the compassion, love, and support that our Messiah shows us in times of need.

​

Today, Edwin serves as President, and April serves as Founder. Together, they are committed to letting Yah’s vision come to life through P.O.W.

 

Our Hope for Tomorrow

We dream of building a community, an equestrian ranch, turning POW (Providing for Orphans and Widows) into POWER (Providing for Orphans and Widows Equestrian Ranch) literally! Where orphans, widows, and vulnerable individuals can gather, heal, grow, and experience true shalom.  A place of connection, support, and belonging — because human connection is essential, and Yah’s love is meant to be lived out together.
